Research Interests
I’m interested in modeling geothermal and geologic carbon storage systems and building tools to enable operators to efficiently manage them. My research has included geomechanical modeling combined with InSAR monitoring of geothermal systems and more recently has focused on the reactive transport modeling of CO2 reinjection into geothermal systems in New Zealand. But these models are only half the solution: I’m also interested in inversion algorithms to improve reservoir model history matching and machine learning surrogate models to generate first order approximations of computationally intensive models. The next phase of my work will focus on CO2 Plume Geothermal (CPG) to aid existing carbon capture, utilization, and storage projects and optimizing the process using techno-economic analysis software.
