Jonathan Ogland-Hand Content

Jonathan is an engineer turned energy systems analyst and is interested in studying decarbonization. He is currently focused on the electric sector and has researched topics including:

  • Energy storage
  • Geothermal energy
  • CO2 Transportation and geologic storage
  • Utilization of geologically stored CO2
  • Variable renewable energy integration

To to this, Jonathan has developed experience building, using, and integrating tools such as:

  • Capacity expansion models of the electric power system
  • Economic dispatch models of the electric power system
  • Price-taker optimization models
  • Coupled plant-level models of geothermal wells and power plants
  • Cost models of geothermal power plants
  • Cost models of geologic CO2 storage sites
  • Dynamic programs
  • Reservoir simulation

When he is not crunching numbers, Jonathan enjoys running, skiing, reading, cooking (and eating!), and cheering for The Ohio State Buckeyes.
