Research Interests

My PhD project is on the design an operation of binary Organic Rankine Cycle power plants for the exploitation of single or two-phase geothermal sources.

My main interests are the modelling of the thermophysical properties of the geofluid, particularly for different mineral or dissolved gas compositions. The composition can significantly alter the geofluid’s specific heat and represents a great uncertainty in the design of the primary heat exchange, where the largest losses are incurred, and is particularly relevant for medium to high temperatures sources.

The resulting models will then be used to develop design heuristics for ORC plants
